The DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DC TAG) application officially ‘opened’ on February 1. To the uninitiated, DC TAG provides up to $10,000 toward the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition at public colleges and universities (two-year and four-year) throughout the US, Guam and Puerto Rico. DCTAG also provides up to $2,500 per academic year toward tuition at private colleges and universities in the District and private Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) nationwide. DC TAG is only for DC residents. If you are a college-bound 12th grader who lives in the District or a currently enrolled college student from the District, I’ve created this video for you with instructions on how to complete the DC TAG application.

You’ll want to complete the DC TAG application as soon as possible, as well as your 2017 taxes. One cautionary note: DC TAG, like many federally legislated programs is first-come, first-served and is subject to congressional budget approval. Translation: the future of DC TAG is anything but assured. More on that next month.
